About 'The Ruskamer' Cottage

As part of the ‘In the End’ ecotourism establishment and working village farm, with main residence, vineyard, orchard, and kitchen garden inspired by the agriturismo and slow food concept - ‘The Ruskamer’ is a free-standing self-catering cottage and ideal base from which to experience Stanford and the surrounding Overberg region.

The cottage consists of two bedrooms and a central open plan kitchen/ dining/ living area and fireplace. Each bedroom, with integrated bathrooms and hanging space for clothes, has a king size bed that can be configured into single beds. Open air braai facilities and seating are offered for alfresco dining as well as a fire pit for enjoying late night chats around a fire.

Essentials such as towels, linen, toilet paper and wifi are provided - also a TV monitor for streaming but no TV network. Although not covered, safe parking is available on the premises.

With dogs on the property, it is ideally suited for dog lovers, where you can enjoy ours but please don't bring yours.

About your Hosts

You will be hosted by Paul & Loraine Bewsher and Karin Sfreddo – our small farm, centrally located in the heritage village, is a shared space between close friends and our beloved dogs. Although we are all still actively working in the adventure, travel and conservation fields worldwide and in Southern Africa, Stanford is our home and base because of the lifestyle it offers us – a lifestyle we would like to share with you, even if only for a brief stay.

Paul is a keen chef and when at home, long table, slow food meals can be booked with him. We can also arrange bespoke, interactive, participatory and enlightening cycling and site-seeing experiences, aimed at showcasing the unique offerings of our area, upon prior request and arrangement.

About the Village and surrounds

Stanford offers the best of several worlds of the Overberg - it is close to the beach (Walker Bay), Klein River and the Klein River Mountains and offers a wide range of nature, food and wine experiences. Most importantly, it is a living, active, well-loved and cared-for village - on Wednesday mornings, local fresh produce and a slow food breakfast are on offer at Graze - centre of town - and on Saturdays, a morning market with delectables by people from the area.

Our Village Tourism Information Office provides up-to-date information on 'what's on', options to dine, as well as activities and points of interest in town as well as surroundings.
